We Offer Botox For…

Non-Invasive Bruxism and TMD Treatment

Injecting Botox into the masseter muscle, which is the large muscle that moves the jaw, may alleviate teeth grinding and clenching, as well as TMJ pain and dysfunction. This is because it relaxes the muscle and prevents it from involuntarily clenching. Not only will this improve the condition itself, but it will also help with the pain, headaches and wear and tear associated with it.

Cosmetic Smile Enhancements

Botox can be used to enhance and reshape your smile. For example, if you feel self-conscious about having a gummy smile, Botox will relax the muscles and limit the rise of the upper lip, meaning more gum tissue will stay covered.

Facial Pain From New Dentures or Orthodontic Treatment

If you’re having muscle spasms and/or pain as you adjust to new dentures or even orthodontic treatment, Botox injections could be a solution. Botox will keep the muscles relaxed as you acclimate.

Anti-Aging

Dr. Sahi is experienced in using Botox for lines and wrinkles. She can address facial concerns like frown lines, forehead lines, crow’s feet and bunny lines. Botox can also be used to soften the jawline or give the eyebrows a little lift.

What is Botox?

BOTOX is a neuromodulator that has been approved by Health Canada for cosmetic use, as well as some medical uses. The injectable contains small amounts of highly purified protein from the bacterium, Clostridium botulinum.

Botox works by temporarily blocking signals from the nerves to the targeted muscles. This stops the muscles from contracting, making the overlying skin smooth and wrinkle-free. It also temporarily prevents the muscles from creating new wrinkles. It can be used to relax muscles and prevent muscle spasms too.

What can Botox be used for?

Botox is a simple, non-surgical way to effectively smooth moderate to severe frown lines and wrinkles. When using Botox for anti-aging, the most popular spots for injections are between the eyebrows, the forehead, the outer corners of the eyes (crow’s feet) and at the nose (bunny lines).

Botox also has other uses too. It can help with conditions, such as:

  • Bruxism and the associated jaw pain and headaches
  • A “gummy” smile
  • Chronic migraines
  • TMJ pain and dysfunction
  • Facial pain

Is Botox safe?

Yes, Botox is safe for adults who are not pregnant or breastfeeding, who don’t have a neurological disorder and who aren’t allergic to any of the ingredients in the product. Millions of people worldwide have used the injectable with excellent results. Botox has been approved by Health Canada for a range of uses and has been available in the country for over 30 years.

Do Botox injections hurt?

Any discomfort with Botox injections is minimal. Dr. Sahi uses extremely small, fine needles. While she can apply a topical numbing cream first, most patients don’t need it. You might feel a little pressure or a stick comparable to a bug bite. The entire procedure usually takes less than 10 minutes.

What happens when I get Botox at Nest?

When you visit us for a Botox consultation (or you can ask about it at your next appointment!), Dr. Sahi will chat with you about your concerns and health history to make sure Botox will be safe and effective for you. In most cases, your Botox injections can be done on the same day as your consultation.

If you’re feeling anxious, Dr. Sahi can apply a topical numbing cream to the area first, though most patients don’t need it. Then, using a tiny, fine needle, she’ll inject the Botox very precisely into the muscles she’s targeting. You might feel a little bit of pressure or a sensation similar to a bug bite.

Once she injects the Botox, that’s it; you’re done! There’s no downtime and you can go right back to your normal activities. Sometimes, you might have minor swelling and pinpoint bruising at the injection sites. This will go away on its own quickly.

When will I see results from Botox and how long will they last?

Most patients notice results within a few days, however, it can take about two weeks to see the full effect. Botox results are temporary and last up to four months. If you stop getting Botox injections, your muscles will return to normal and it will be as if you never had treatment. If you want to maintain your results, Dr. Sahi can help you create the ideal appointment schedule.
