Cosmetic Dentures Customized for You

Losing teeth can have a huge impact on your confidence and self-image. Beyond the cosmetic concerns, untreated missing teeth can also cause problems with chewing, putting you at risk for nutritional issues, and lead to systemic health problems. Whether you’re not a candidate for dental implants or other teeth replacement options aren’t in your budget, full or partial removable dentures could be the solution. As a Vancouver cosmetic dentist, Dr. Sonia Sahi uses technology and modern materials to create removable dentures that are natural looking and comfortable. She’ll spend the time getting to know your lifestyle and needs in order to help you decide on the best type of dentures for your smile.

Types of Dentures

Removable Denture

Full Dentures

Immediate Dentures

Right after tooth extraction, immediate dentures can be placed. These are usually just temporary. Since your muscles and ligaments readjust and your gums shrink as you heal, they won’t fit as well as your permanent dentures. However, they’ll give you new teeth right away, help you chew and allow you to adapt to wearing dentures.

Conventional Full Dentures

After a healing period, Dr. Sahi can design permanent dentures. They’ll be fabricated to fit your mouth with maximum accuracy and will be more comfortable and stable than immediate dentures. Our cosmetic dentures are crafted to look just like your natural teeth and last for a long time.

Implant-Supported Dentures

Worried about your dentures slipping or falling out? Implant-supported dentures offer enhanced stability and an excellent balance of value, function and comfort. With this option, Dr. Sahi places as few as two dental implants in your jawbone. Once the implants fuse with the bone, they’re used to securely anchor your upper or lower denture.

Porcelain Veneers

Partial Dentures

Transitional Partial Dentures

Transitional partial dentures are relatively inexpensive, removable, plastic dentures. They can be used to temporarily replace missing teeth or to act as a space maintainer after a tooth extraction while you heal. After the healing period, we can place dental implants or design permanent dentures.

Removable Partial Dentures (RPDs)

These metal-based partial dentures are typically made out of cast vitallium. They’re lighter and less bulky than plastic dentures. Though they’re slightly more expensive than plastic dentures, they fit better and are still more economical when compared to fixed bridgework or dental implants.

Benefits of Removable Dentures

Budget-Friendly

Removable dentures are more affordable than other teeth replacement options, including bridgework and dental implants.

How do removable dentures work?

While there are different types of removable dentures, in general, they feature a gum-colored plastic base or a metal base. The base fits over the alveolar ridge, which is the bone ridge that used to support the teeth. Prosthetic teeth that are designed to look and work like your natural teeth are attached to the base. Because of how close the dentures fit against the alveolar ridge, it creates a suctioning effect that holds them in place.

Are removable dentures comfortable?

Removable dentures aren’t as stable and comfortable as dental implants or bridgework. However, with today’s technology and materials, when dentures have been fitted properly, they are comfortable.

When you first start wearing dentures, there’s an adjustment period and talking and chewing can feel funny. Don’t worry, the ligaments and muscles will adapt and learn to work with your dentures. Once you get used to them, you’ll be able to talk and chew normally again.

What can I expect when getting removable dentures?

When you visit Nest for Vancouver removable dentures, we’ll take digital impressions of your upper and lower alveolar ridge. The dental lab will create the base for your dentures based on this model of your mouth. Dr. Sahi will work closely with the lab technician to craft lifelike, natural-looking prosthetic teeth that recreate your smile and meet your aesthetic goals.

Generally, you’ll wear temporary dentures first to ensure you’re happy with the look and fit. Once you’ve adjusted to wearing dentures and you love the outcome, we’ll create your permanent dentures. Dr. Sahi will carefully assess the fit, function and appearance of your removable dentures and make any adjustments to ensure they fit comfortably and look stunning.
